These paintings are by two of my English relatives, and twin sisters, Dorothy Lockwood and Marjorie Sinclair. Some of the titles they were granted were:

RA = Royal Academy       

RBA = Royal Society of British Artists 

NEAC = New English Art Club

RBSA = Royal Birmingham Society of Artists

ARWS = Associate of Royal Watercolour Society

RWS = Full member of Royal Watercolour Society

 

The Royal Academy is the premier national UK academy/gallery located in London. Dorothy regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon - the French equivalent to the RA. The most prestigious and considered to be the most difficult title to gain of those listed above is the RWS.
